UNIVERSITY AND COLLEGE CLASSES

You Were Born To Be Published: Eleven Laws for Getting Your Writing into Print NOW!, and You Were Born to Write: Complete Your Book in 30 Days or Less by mastering the Inner Game of Writing

As a general rule, Tom offers two classes on either the same day or on consecutive days at the universities and colleges at which he teaches.

UNIVERSITY AND COLLEGE CLASSES

He usually begins with You Were Born To Be Published: Eleven Laws for Getting Your Writing into Print NOW! because he knows that if you understand the viability of getting published, you’re more likely to complete your manuscript. He then moves on to You Were Born to Write: Complete Your Book in 30 Days or Less by Mastering the Inner Game of Writing, during which he explains in detail his method, which you will use to visualize, plan, and complete your book.

Both of Tom’s classes are designed to impart volumes of information as quickly as possible. Each class packs a full day’s worth of wisdom into a three to five hour time frame.

The average student who attends Tom's class has never written a book, but upon applying his proven methods usually completes the writing of his or her first book, working only in their spare time, in an average of 27 days. These courses offer you everything you need to become a published author NOW!

YOU WERE BORN TO BE PUBLISHED: ELEVEN LAWS FOR GETTING YOUR WRITING INTO PRINT NOW!

During this class you will learn everything you need to know to become the published writer you want to be. The method Tom teaches is not only proven, effective, and easy-to-understand, but often provides immediate results.

You’ll learn how to identify and procure the right agent to represent you, and/or the best publisher interested in purchasing the rights to your book, as well as, how to land offers to buy your articles and short stories.

Tom will explain the options and the inner workings of the book publishing industry. You will learn what to look for and how to handle acceptances from agents and publishers alike. This is an essential part of your education. It is necessary for you to thoroughly understand all of the publishing alternatives available to you to ensure that you will always make the best decision for both you and your project.

YOU WERE BORN TO WRITE: COMPLETE YOUR BOOK IN 30 DAYS OR LESS BY MASTERING THE INNER GAME OF WRITING

During this class, Tom will share a proven system that he, himself, as well as thousands of his students, have been employing for nearly a quarter of a century. The method he shares will enable you, if you choose, to finish your book in an average of 30 days. To do this you will need two hours a day, six days a week. Do this, and you can expect a sharper focus on the subject of your book and a much clearer understanding of how to write it. In addition, you’ll gain confidence, potentially transforming your vocation and, possibly, your personal life as well.

RETREATS

In addition to the classes Tom routinely teaches at colleges and universities, he offers three retreats that compliment and follow-up his class teachings.

Releasing Your Author Within

This retreat covers approximately 13 hours of hands-on instruction and is designed to jump-start the writing of your book or help you finish the one upon which you are working. This retreat is an excellent way to discover, practice, and master Tom’s unique approach. It enables you to finally get that book written, and to gain the creative understanding necessary as an author to complete more work, and/or make writing a full or part time profession.

First, Tom will help you master, at will, your ability to connect with your Author Within, so when you walk out of the retreat on Saturday you will be able to self-induce, on your own, this most essential of all states, any time you want the mood to strike you.

Second, Tom will aid you in connecting with the book trying to get out of you. Since most students who initially attend Tom’s classes or retreats either don't know specifically what it is they want to write, or are slightly off-base in one way or another about what it is they are writing. It is essential that they learn how to tap into exactly what it is that is trying to come out.. Be prepared for surprises.

Third, most of the students who attend this retreat walk away after three days having written a number of words equivalent to one-tenth the length of their books. Accomplishing this is very important. Since the majority of the mistakes new authors routinely make transpire in the first tenth of their book, it is important to get beyond that point of no return as soon as possible.

Fourth, you will not only be writing, but also completing your query letter for your book in class before you leave. Thus, you will be ready to submit your query letter to the publishing contacts Tom will provide to you immediately afterward. Doing so will cement your commitment to continue on with the writing of your book, and also enable you to reel in the acceptances you deserve from these sources.

“My husband couldn’t believe that within one week of finishing the Intensive Writer’s Retreat with Tom Bird that I had finished my first book,” says Debbie Kowalsky of Hollywood, Florida.

Tom offers generous discounts for returning students, retreat attendees, IIWC candidates, and those who register and sign up early. Please note that the class size of these retreats are limited to preserve individual instruction.

Become a Book Promoting Dynamo

To be a successful author in publishing today, an author needs to know how to:

1) Write a damn good book

2) Understand the ins and outs of how to get it published

3) Become the promotional dynamo the marketplace requires of all its authors

Offered only once a year, this retreat focuses on the third essential ingredient to an author's success. For the second year in a row, Tom will be bringing in a book promotional specialist, Joanne McCall, to join him in preparing his students to become the book promoting dynamos they need to be. The first segment of this retreat focuses upon presenting you with a full overview of everything you need to know about book publicity. The second half then focuses on the review of the marketing plan you will be required to put together for the promotion of your book and on media training. This is a retreat not to be missed. Retreat spaces are always limited to preserve quality, so reserve your space early.
